Day 118 - 4/28/11 - Round and Round

Watching the steel go round and round
Drilling a hole into the ground
100' down, what could be found?
An unmined coal seam, untouched and sound.

Day 117 - 4/27/11 - Mountaintop

I love taking my jeep out for work on potential work sites. Here's a pic of my jeep on top of a mountain overlooking the Monongahela River. This is where the jeep belongs!

Day 116 - 4/26/11 - Mommy time

Eli is starting to use his eyes more to follow things and focus in on something. Here he is looking at his mommy. I can tell he thinks she's beautiful.

Day 115 - 4/25/11 - Got my hairs cut

I finally did it. It's starting to get really hot so I decided it was time to cut off all the long curls and go with the short summer hair. Here's me right after I buzzed my own hair.

Day 114 - 4/24/11 - Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone. Here's a picture from our easter service at Chestnut Ridge Church. This is my good friend Adam leading us in worship!

Day 113 - 4/23/11 - He's getting bigger

Awesome hair!

Day 112 - 4/22/11 - Exploring

I took a side road today that I've never been on to the West of Morgantown. Sometimes I just like to see where roads will take me. Just before the road turned to dirt and I turned around, I saw this scene and took a shot. I like how everything is turning back to green from the ugly winter brown.

Day 111 - 4/21/11 - Falling Water

We took Eli for his first walk around the neighborhood that he's going to be growing up in. Here's a pic of Ashley, Eli, and Zoie. We had a good time.

Day 110 - 4/20/11 - Deckers Creek Rapids

Just east of Morgantown, where Deckers creek descends from Chestnut Ridge, there's a beautiful place with multiple rapids. I'm planning on doing a time lapse here soon so went to scout out a location today.

Day 109 - 4/19/11 - New Life

Here's another picture from last spring, but again, I promise this is what it's looking like now. haha.

Day 108 - 4/18/11 - Springtime in Morgantown

I didn't take this picture this year, I have to admit. This was taken one year ago, but I promise, this is what Ruby McQuain Park Looks like right now. I just didn't get a chance to go get any pictures. This being a Dad thing is very time consuming. haha.

Day 107 - 4/17/11 - Catch up time

OK, so I honestly thought that I would really be able to keep up with this blog, especially when I have Eli now to take pictures of. However, I didn't expect that I would be so busy that I wouldn't have time to pick up my camera. So I'm sorry to say I have not been keeping up with my photo per day quota. But I'm sure you guys can cut me some slack. So to catch up, I have uploaded a cool panoramic picture I took/created from the Sunday after Eli was born. We were still staying in the hospital so our Church community group decided to come visit us instead of have our normal Sunday night get-together. It was great!

Day 106 - 4/16/11 - Mammaw and Eli!

We had an open house to come over and meet our new boy, Elijah. Here's a picture with Mammaw Net.

Day 105 - 4/15/11 - Finally Finished

Two weeks after Eli arrived, we have finally finished hanging thing on the wall of his nursery. Hopefully he'll enjoy it all one day.

Day 104 - 4/14/11 - Coopers Rock

I decided I had to get away from the office for lunch today, so I drove up to Coopers Rock to enjoy the scenery before I picked up lunch and took it back to the office. It was a very nice sunny day.

Day 103 - 4/13/11 - Zoie is concerned

I again, failed to get a picture today. So here's one of Zoie looking over at Eli with a very concerned look. She's doing pretty well with the new addition.

Day 102 - 4/12/11 - Another missed day

Another busy day, another missed photo for the day. So Here's another one from our photo shoot Sunday.

Day 101 - 4/11/11 - Busy

OK. So...its been kind of busy since Eli was born and I am struggling to keep getting a picture each day. I didn't take one today so I'll go ahead and give you another one from our photo shoot yesterday. Enjoy!

Day 100 - 4/10/11 - First Photo Shoot

Eli had his first "semi-professional" photo shoot today. It got up to 85 degrees here in Morgantown so I figured it would be safe set up my black backdrop on the back porch to get some cool pictures of my boy in the buff. In this picture, I believe he is a mountaineer fan.

Day 99 - 4/9/11 - Uncle Justin and Aunt Alana

Justin and Alana came over for a visit today to see the little guy. I think Eli enjoyed their visit.

Day 98 - 4/8/11 - Ziggy's Takover

Ziggy thought that he needed to try out Eli's little rocker. I think he just wanted to make sure it was safe before we put Eli in it. What a selfless loyal "big brother" dog. haha.

Day 97 - 4/7/11 - Me and My Boy

OK. So I didn't take this picture, but I wanted to post it anyway. Just me and my boy enjoying an evening in the "boss chair".

Thursday, April 7, 2011

Day 96 - 4/6/11 - Jude

I'll give you a break today from all the pictures of Eli. So here's a picture of Eli's cousin, Jude, who was visiting with his mom and sister. I was playing with a somewhat slower shutter speed to get a motion blur effect. I kind of like this one where he was moving, but his face is the only thing in focus. He's a pretty cool dude too.

Day 95 - 4/5/11 - Mohawk.

I'm not sure if you can see it here, but I gave him a sweet mohawk just before I got him dressed (which he promptly threw up all over). He's a pretty cool little dude.

Day 94 - 4/4/11 - Home

Eli finally got to come home today. Mommy and baby were getting settled into a seat that will be used a lot in the future. I think he liked his new room. At least it has more room than his old dwelling in Ashley's womb. ha. Zoie is very nervous about the whole situation and was keeping her eye on everything.

Day 93 - 4/3/11 - Mommy and Elijah time

Ashley read Elijah his first book while we were there in the hospital. By the looks of it, he really wasn't all that interested. But it was a great moment!

Day 92 - 4/2/11 - Grandparents

Mom and Dad drove up from Beckley once they heard that Ashley was in labor. They were there to help welcome Elijah into the world.

Day 91 - 4/1/11 - Well, It finally Happened.

Well I made it 90 days without missing a picture for a day. Unfortunately I have to report that I did not take a picture on Friday, April 1. But I'm going to give myself a pass because the reason I didn't take a pictures was because I was at the hospital with Ashley getting ready to meet our son. I didn't take any pictures until the delivery was over, which was at 2:28am April 2. I now announce to the world (through this picture) Elijah Lucas Griffith.

Day 90 - 3/31/11 - Concert

Ashley and I went to a concert tonight at our church. We got to see some pretty good bands (Jars of Clay, Matt Maher, Derek Webb, and Audrey Assad). I could have posted some pictures of the acts and all the lights, but I kind of liked this kind of abstract picture. It's of a guy in the sound booth working the controls.

Day 89 - 3/30/11 - New Tripods

I have been using old cheap tripods for my time lapse. They weren't sturdy enough to keep the camera from swaying on the track. So I went looking for some old ones on ebay. Trying to find thos old timey sturdy kind for cheap. I couldn't find any but I did find two of these on Amazon.com. They were cheap, and they are sturdy! Now my rig will be nice and sturdy!

Day 88 - 3/29/11 - Extension.

I decided that my time lapse rig wasn't long enough so I wanted to put an extension to make it longer. So I built a smaller 2' track and connected it to my original with these hinges. It works perfectly and then folds up when I'm not using it.

Day 87 - 3/28/11 - Just Another Manic Monday.

Another Monday. Another night of basketball. I created a time lapse video of us playing and you can take a look at it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAccelwZ6xQ Here's one of the pictures with me going in for an easy layup.

Day 86 - 3/27/11 - Dead campus.

I went out today to do a few time laps videos around the WVU campus on this beautiful Sunday afternoon. I forgot that last week was spring break so there was no one anywhere. Here's a picture showing how dead it was out there. It should get better once it gets warmer too.

Day 85 - 3/26/11 - Free Desert.

Well we failed to judge correctly how much time it would take to eat at this nice restaurant (Sargasso) in Morgantown after church before Ashley had to go to work. They took a little longer getting our food to us than normal, but Ashley probably would have had to leave early anyway. When Ashley asked for her food to go cause she had to be at work soon, the head chef came out to apologize for the lengthy wait and said he would make it up to us. Ashley left, Adam, Nicki and I stayed to finish our food. Then the Chef brought out what's in the picture. Delicious Cheesecake! mmm. He even gave us one for Ashley that I took to her at work. Overall, it was good.

Day 84 - 3/25/11 - What's on the table?

Nothing interesting today. So here's a quick random shot of what's on my coffee table right now. A Puma hat, a quarter, a cell phone, a DirecTV remote, and a coaster. Riveting blog post huh?...

Day 83 - 3/24/11 - Coal.

I had to run out to one of the mine sites that I work with to go over some permitting issues with the superintendent. While I was there I snapped this shot from above the highwall looking down into the "pit". The size of the machines these guys operate just amazes me!

Day 82 - 3/23/11 - STRIKE!

Wednesday nights are made for bowling! This was a strike from Tony Etris.

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

Day 81 - 3/22/11 - Grafton

I have been making numerous trips to Philippi lately for work. On the way, I have to drive right through downtown Grafton. This building has always stood out with all the painted advertisements on it. I stopped today and took a picture.

Day 80 - 3-21-11 - Monday Nights

For the past 6 years from every fall to spring, Monday nights have been basketball nights. I've met a lot of great people who've come and gone in our group and made some great friends. This is my $14 Sams Club special. We use it every week and it's held up nicely.

Sunday, March 20, 2011

Day 79 - 3-20-11 - Water Pump

My jeep just keeps getting newer and newer! Today the newest part of the jeep is the water pump. I did a time lapse video of my work. This is when Ashley and Zoie decided to visit and see my handy work.

Day 78 - 3-19-11 - Anna Marie

We went down to Charleston today to visit my brother and his new baby girl. Here's Anna Marie Griffith. She looks mad. But she was really just sleeping.

Day 77 - 3-18-11 - Zoie's Bone

Zoie loves her bone. Not much going on today.

Thursday, March 17, 2011

Day 76 - 3-17-11 -Spontaneous Photo Shoot

Ashley and I went for a walk today at the Cheat lake park after I got off work. I had my camera and it turned into a spur of the moment maternitay photo Shoot. Here's the best one of the day.

Day 75 - 3/16/11 - Work

Here's a picture I took at work today. I have a map wheel that broke, so I took the plastic lense and put it over my eye as if it was a monacle. Work is boring sometimes. You have to entertain yourself somehow.

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

Day 74 - 3/15/11 - Beware the Ides Of March

Or at least beware of the little kids laundry. This is all of Eli's washable belongings. Clothes, Bed sheets, towels,...anything. I was very surprised at how much stuff the baby already has. Ashley's due date is 5 weeks from today. It won't be long. However I fear it may take me five weeks just to get all this laundry done. It's a good thing Ashley is going to help out and do most of it!!! She's wonderful.

Monday, March 14, 2011

Day 73 - 3/14/11 - Not the Best Day for the Park

I went to Cheat Lake Park on my lunch break today. It was cold, cloudy, and windy. Not the best day for a walk in the park. It'll be nice once the warmer weather comes.

Day 72 - 3/13/11 - Not Quite Ready (Yet)

Still have a lot of organizing/putting stuff away before Elijah comes into the world. Not too much longer so we have to get on the ball.

Sunday, March 13, 2011

Day 71 - 3/12/11 - Black Bear

After going to our usual Saturday night church service at CRC, we went out to eat at on of Morgantown's greatest eateries. MMMM. Black Bear!

Day 70 - 3/11/11 - Babying up the House

We are still about 5 weeks away from our due date, but Ashley has began "nesting" I believe. She has started setting up the house for the baby. Already out is this baby monitor. Don't worry. It will be used soon enough.

Thursday, March 10, 2011

Day 69 - 3/10/11 - Copper Beech

Here's a picture of the Copper Beech Townhouse Development in Morgantown. This was my baby, my first development project that I designed by myself. You can see West Run on the right side of the picture flowing pretty high today from all the rain. Everything you see, except the actual building structures, I designed. Everything from the elevation and slope of the roadways, parking, stormwater systems, sanitary sewer systems, etc. Not the best picture, but It's all I got.
